Ruth Keat’s Bio
If you have found yourself on my page-Thank You and Welcome!! I’d like to tell you a little about myself.
At the beginning of 2020, I retired as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Reproductive Technology or IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)
In my role as a nurse specialist in 2019, I was teaching Nurses in IVF clinics how to perform Ultrasounds for patients cycles and passing on my 35 years of experience in this field. I loved the Interaction and rewards of seeing Nurses up skill and become more involved with their patients.
Prior to 2019 I was Director of Nursing and a critical part of senior Management at a Brisbane IVF clinic. Again, in this role as well as being instrumental in the complex areas of infertility treatment such as ultrasounds and embryo transfers, I was also honored to pass on these skills to other Nurses so that their expertise was increased giving a much broader understanding of the patient’s journey.
In 2009 I moved to Queensland from Regional NSW where I had spent 25 years as the Director of Nursing at an IVF clinic and a consultant at several other clinics. Once more as well as educating and really supporting my patients, I helped my colleagues to learn from me and enrich their skills. At the beginning of 2020, I did not know what I wanted to do but my role has always been in helping others, teaching others and taking the burden of fear away from them just a little bit. When my beloved partner had passed away at the end of 2019 and I just needed time to heal.
Then it struck me -all these years of working mainly with women and for women and couples supporting and educating them I wanted to keep giving! I wanted to serve and be helpful and useful. I could not let 35 years of understanding women’s hormones and emotional needs just end! I feel it is my passion to continue to share my 35 years of knowledge and connect with as many women as I can.
Talking to my daughter and daughter in law (Rebekah Keat and Siri Lindley) of Team Sirius Tri Club and Sirius Squad who work with the most wonderful team and clients. I could see a huge need for support and education of women going into peri and post menopause.
On top of all the knowledge and empathy I have for what women face – and as a woman who sort of stumbled through Menopause because of lack of support- I decided to broaden my specialty for this time of a woman’s life – now referred to as the “3rd AGE”.
My knowledge of what this time entails has been something I have dealt with frequently in my work in IVF clinics.
As you would probably know many women in their 40’s suddenly realize time is getting or has gotten away from them. I was often challenged to explain that they no longer had the ability to produce eggs and thus were post menopausal. The devastation this produced was a time when they needed so much support and explanation of their own bodies and the impact on the dreams they had, thus needing much emotional support.
I do understand how difficult this transition can be.
I am a qualified Globally certified Peri & Post Menopausal Wellness Specialist Coach.
I can’t wait to help empower, support and demystify menopause for women again, it’s something I’ve been doing for 35 years. I look forward to helping and supporting you through this journey!
Let’s change the narrative around Peri & Post Menopause from all the negative things we hear to one that embraces the new freedom and new opportunities to strengthen and nourish our bodies. Lets call it the Power Years! Together we can ACHIEVE!!
